CBD oils are being used to do amazing things. One of these uses is helping combat anxiety through promoting the body’s own healthy response to stress.
How Does This Work?
The cannabinoid receptors everyone has within the body work to help govern how various aspects of our bodies function, including:
- Stress
- Fear
- Emotional behavior
- Sleep
- Craving
- Mood
- Irritability
Studies have shown that when cannabinoid receptors are activated during times of stress, heart rate and blood pressure lower and anxiety and pain reduce. This happens through lowering the body’s “fight or flight” response.
Scientists have been aware of the link between CBD oils and anxiety since 1982 when a double-blind test showed that CBD, stimulated by THC, blocked anxiety symptoms. Another study, which focused on stress in a public speaking simulation, showed that 300-mg of CBD reduced anxiety.
Integrative Medicine published the results of a study that showed CBD oil can also help decrease the use of marijuana. The CBD oil lowers irritability, stress and anxiety and helps the patients to maintain proper levels of sleep. In other words, the use of CBD oil allows patients to transition from marijuana without experiencing major side effects.
Undoubtedly, more research will be needed to confirm the anti-stress and anti-anxiety effects of CBD oils. So far, though, the plant shows much promise.
